The Local Social House
About This Spot
Nestled right by the river in Belleville, The Local Social House quietly invites you to linger a little longer with its warm, unhurried vibe. From the moment you approach, whether on a crisp spring afternoon or a glowing October evening, the gentle hum of conversation and the sight of softly lit tables clad in simple yet thoughtful decor set a tone that’s both familiar and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where neighbors meet to catch up, travelers pause mid-journey, and solo diners can feel seen without feeling spotlighted.
The pace here moves comfortably—never rushed but far from languid—making it equally suited for a leisurely lunch on the riverside patio or a cozy dinner inside when the sun dips low and the air cools. Staffers bring a knowledge of the menu that feels personal rather than rehearsed, ready to share little stories about seasonal ingredients or daily catches, enriching the experience without overwhelming it.
The menu itself feels like a respectful nod to Ontario’s bounty, offering familiar flavors with subtle twists that invite discovery. Whether it’s the fresh snap of local pickerel, the comforting richness of a brisket poutine, or a quietly indulgent chocolate torte to close the evening, the dishes carry that homegrown ethos without ever feeling predictable. The mix of classics—like a well-crafted Reuben or a double smash burger—and more intricate bites such as arancini or chickpea fritters speaks to a kitchen that enjoys exploring without losing sight of comfort.
What lingers most is the way the place breathes life into simple moments: a cold drink savored while watching river currents ripple, the quiet attentiveness when the evening light fades, and the subtle warmth in the service that makes even a solo visit feel like belonging. It’s a spot where local rhythm gently slows, and the everyday feels a little more connected.

Really enjoyed the river patio on a beautiful October 1 evening. As soon as the sun went down, the staff got me settled into a warm table where I finished my meal. An older woman, dining alone: one notices service.

We stopped by for lunch as part of a little road trip out to Tyendinaga, and it seemed nice to be able to sit on the patio on a river, but we ended up sitting inside due to the extreme heat, which was still nice. The food was good but not great, depending on what you ordered. The fish special was salmon, which was seasoned deliciously, but why did they put ketchup all over it lol. I thought that was so weird. The pasta special (no photo) was strangely sour but also cheesy, so it made me feel a bit queasy. I got the Local salad since I wasn't hungry, but it was actually a massive portion, and I thought the toppings were unique enough to warrant ordering (apples, toasted oats, almonds) but it ended up being a really basic salad that I probably should've just made at home. However the asparagus (side dish) was delicious and I would order that again. The staff here were also very courteous regarding our nut allergies. This is a nice place to stop by for a casual lunch with family tho

Great little spot! Quaint hidden gem. Randomly stumbled upon this restaurant as I was across the river and saw the nice patio. Decided to drive over the bridge and grab a table for a Thursday afternoon lunch. The service was amazing. The servers definitely had a lot of knowledge about the menu and the specials for that day. Grabbed a couple drinks. I ordered the Caesar salad. Add chicken and my friend ordered the local club sandwich. the food was super fresh and I would definitely come back to this place again. The restaurant itself was very clean very bright very inviting. I wanna come back and try the local club sandwich and the local smash burger if I’m ever in the Belleville area again 10 out of 10 recommend will be back soon!

Great location for a restaurant. Right by the river. It was a hot day and we got to enjoy the patio. The food was good and the mocktail was great. It wasnt too busy for a Saturday afternoon. We order the sausage pasta, flat bread, Calamari, Eggplant parmesan and soup. The calamari was fresh and yummy, the apple slivers on the flat bread was a good touch. The eggplant parm sandwich was really good. Would definitely go here again if I was around Belleville next time.

We had a wonderful experience at The Local Social House in Belleville! The outdoor patio was the perfect setting—relaxed, welcoming, and great for enjoying the June weather. We ordered the smash burger with truffle fries, and both were absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively without being too loud. It's definitely a place we’ll come back to—perfect for date nights, casual dinners, or catching up with friends on the patio. Highly recommend!

If you stop by, say yes to pausing here. We had a lovely evening on our wedding anniversary today. Our spot was a great view of Moira River. We spotted local fish and turtles in the almost still water. The background music was supportive of an enjoyable time together surrounded by kind humans. Brett helped us make choices we loved and he even made something surprising after I asked to have a cocktail that can give me a particular vibe. The drinks and food touched various senses in fun ways. At the end the Sticky Toffee Pudding was unknowingly the best choice to warm us up and bring more joy of living. And we got to have some fun chatting with the staff in between orders.

The view was perfect. I came with a friend, we decided to pick this spot for its view and old familiarity. There was a friendly host guiding us to our table, some jokes and very few patrons at the moment we arrived, in-between seating times of day, so we had our choice of inside and out, and the majority of seats. We opted for one right above the water on the patio, facing south. Turtles on the rocks in the middle of the river were fun to watch. We had some drinks, as that was all we came for, but in the last possible moment before departing, I opted to try something on the menu, and tried the truffle fries. EXCELLENT. If you go for nothing other than a simple bite, the fries are worth going just for those. I will be back!
